Sounds retro

Great full orchestra feel on this one, albeit a synth one. It does have a certain, retro appeal to it. Again, I have to ask about the title.

Drums near the beginning sound like static? I thought it was a rendering glitch at first... The piece also gets a bit too loud, it sounds like it got clipped during composition. I've found that composing with your volume higher than you normally have it helps with that.

Another sweet submission, and looking forward to more.

Good stuff

Awesome techno beat here. I really like the percussive bass near the beginning, a staple of any good rave. The drums are also really good, you got me head-bouncing with this one.

This piece sounds really 'full'. You have an instrument in every section (melody, bass, mid-bass, etc.), which I really like. To just be able to put in my earphones and feel like there's an orchestra around me is always great.

5 and faved, keep it up!

Thank you, all of these reviews have given me embarrassingly big grins on my face.

Decent remix

I never much cared for the song myself, but you do a good job of playing with the melody. It's kind of repetitive, but I recall the actual song being that way as well.

I feel that there's a lot more variation that could be used here. Maybe toss up the main line a little, add some of your own style to it. It tends to sort of drag on after 3 minutes of listening to the same 3-second jingle.

Good job with this, and keep it up!

not sure what you mean cuz it changes up quite a bit and the main line plays alot

The robots are coming...

Seriously good electronic/mechanical vibe on this one. Feels like watching an army of robots advancing, or infiltrating some sort of high tech factory. Also loops really well.

The electronic sound you used here is just perfect for the mechanical feel of this piece. Maybe stick some reverb on your main synth, it kind of dies when you cut it off. You could also have some kind of electronic bassline, so that there's still some sound when everything else stops.

Great job, and keep up the good work!

Very active

It's always good to see someone go back and improve on their work. This is a pretty good one, it doesn't get long or repetitive like most 5+ min tracks I've heard.

Synth near the beginning is a little piercing (I like to turn up my volume while reviewing), a bit high pitched for my liking. I like your drum line, it sounds really simple but it's always way harder to make a good one than anyone thinks. The rapid synth you used for the main melody gives a real sense of vitality to this piece.

All it's missing, I think, are a few more parts. It feels a little empty near the end, with only 1-2 instruments playing. I always go for the grand, orchestral feel if possible. Sounds good, but could be better with more harmony parts, IMO.

Great job on this one, keep up the good work!

Thank you for the feedback! In FL Studio I increased the tempo from 180 to 200 after uploading this, and it felt much better. (Maybe I should upload a Law of Disorder 2 (Revised)? I did turn up the bass volume a little too). For the piercing synth at the beginning, I actually warned about that in the #1 :P but I can't really expect that people read that description. As for the "empty" ending, I made it like this so it fits the beginning perfectly :) at least it did in FL Studio. Anyway I always appreciate reviews, helping a lot!

Uncertain, but hopeful

This is a really nice, gentle/soothing piece. It kind of feels like someone drifting through space, looking down at the earth. The shifting of major and minor keys gives it a feel of uncertainty, while the gentle strings and bass make it feel calm and comforting, not fearful. A good line to go with this would be: "Who knows what the future holds? We look forward not with fear, but hope."

I really like the bouncing synth at the beginning, with the supporting strings and bass slowly fading in. The electronic beeps later on are also a great touch. Overall, the chord work is masterfully done, but it lacks clear, outstanding main melody.

Of course, I'm pretty sure that you weren't being nearly this philosophical while composing this. Awesome job, keep it up!

MrMusicalLion responds:

Actually now that you mention it, I was deeply philosophical immediately prior to making this.

Something I wrote down at the time was..
'Just like Bacteria probably have little to no Awareness of Ants; And Ants have little to no awareness of us, Humans, I am left to wonder what there could be in this universe that we have little to no awareness of, yet is surrounding us all..'

I think that line fits well with the feeling of the piece, the one that you wrote.
Thanks for the Review; Greatly appreciated, as usual ^_^

The end is here

Awesome job with the atmosphere of this one, it conveys a sense of destruction, desolation, all that great stuff. The synth makes it sound like a robot apocalypse, like the Matrix.

Really good job with the supporting rhythms that are consistent throughout the piece. The choir/string chords also really help to set the tone. It's like staring at a vast field of broken machinery and smoldering wreckage, and not a soul around...

Really awesome job here. Keep it up!

MrMusicalLion responds:

I thought I had replied to this review.. how odd! Anyways; I'll reply now ^_^

To me, this also conveys another story too, as well as showing a robotic apocalypse, it also feels like it could be a piece of music that would go very well with a Modern Desert Warfare film, I can imagine this music played with a scene where you zoom into a group of helicopters flying over the desert in the evening, approaching their target with haste.. then later on it feels like it could be describing the nearby struggles in the Ocean, battleships and submarines locked in perpetual fiery exchanges. Something like that :)

Thanks for the review! :D I shall be making more today hopefully :)

Frantic

I really like the fast paced feel of this one. I imagine this one as a timed level in a platformer game. Some great drums and synth here.

It also has a sort of retro feel to it, with the synths coming in at about 1:08 sounding like parts of an 8-bit track. It manages to keep a sense of urgency for the entire piece.

Great job and keep up the good work!

Congrats

Really good ambient piece. It does work well as background music. I'm glad you got a 100% for this one, you deserve it.

The snare sample sounds a little weak, maybe something with a bit more "kick" to it (not sure how to describe it). And the dynamics are somewhat disorienting in some places, fading away to almost nothing one second and then very loud the next. Otherwise great work.

Great job getting it into a video. Keep up the good work!

Birdinator99 responds:

Yea, I'm trying to get those dynamics working for me, not against me -- that's what I'm working on next!

Thanks for your support!

Wow.

Extremely impressive work, powerful chords and a great, moving melody. It really draws me in. Kind of reminiscent of Avatar (the one with the blue people) in the mood and chord structure.

The only thing that could make this more awesome would be to add some percussion and maybe a full orchestra. This sounds like it could easily be a movie soundtrack awesome work.

Perfect score and faved. Keep it up!

M3 of the Review Request Club

MrMusicalLion responds:

That's an interesting thought, to add percussion/orchestra etc. Hmm. I'll give it a shot, I am wondering what music is out there that I could listen to, to get inspiration for such.. [i.e a piano piece with added orchestration/percussion..] Feel free to message me if you have any ideas :) I'd appreciate it.

Thankyou for the review, lol, you guys over at the review request club are infinitely awesome. Thanks again!

I use FL studio to make my music. Also toying with Game Maker, and would love to know if there is a way make my games into flash. I will respond to any and all reviews, given that they offer insight and constructive criticism.
