Very relaxing

This is a great relaxing piece, kind of makes me think of a scenic drive out west. The use of soft, bubbly synth definitely give it a calming, peaceful feel. I love how it picks up at around 1:04, setting the tone for the rest of the piece.

I can sort of sense a chorus/melody pattern going, as more instruments join in for the chorus and then cut out, adding a new one for the next line of the song. I really like the layered approach to composition, since that's how I first started out.

Overall, I really like this one. Keep up the good work!

"What you think that we think is cool"?

Not quite sure what to make of this one. You certainly have the hang of synth bass and drum loops, as well as some interesting SFX thrown in the mix. Your dedication shows through length alone, and this is actually a pretty complex piece.

The lyric, however, leaves me confused. Not sure what it means or how it ties in with the title. Also a bit repetitive overall for my taste. I'm no expert in the House genre, so maybe that's common in similar entries. I'm more of a classical/video game guy.

I can tell you definitely put some serious effort into this piece. Nice work.

I'm gettin' down to this!

Really enjoying the funky, grooving feel of this piece. I visualize several lights going off in time with each part as it comes in. Really would work as a rave track.

The synth works just right for this piece, giving it a really strong electronic feel. The drumline is also awesome in keeping the whole thing moving. The fade-out at the end is also great. I might suggest turning the cymbal down at 1:30, it kind of drowns out the other parts for a bit.

Great work on this one! Inspiration is an invisible hand that slaps you in the face when you least expect it. Whatever works, more power to you. Keep it up!

The drowning out at 1:30 is an example of sidechaining gone wrong.
I'm looking for some good mastering tutorials but they are hard to come across

Well done, could be a little better

For a live recording, this is pretty good. The lead guitar is a little too harsh for my liking, especially near the beginning. If possible, you could change it to something softer there, then work up to something heavier.

The written lyrics don't seem to meet up with the song at some point. I notice myself trying to read along and getting thrown off here and there. That and I've never been the best at interpreting lyrics, which is probably why I don't make any songs myself.

Good job, and keep working at it!

Sudden change in style

Got thrown off at 0:18, expecting this to be sort of a classical piece, foolishly not looking at the genre. Very impressive at the beginning, I like whatever that instrument is.

I'm really liking the bass synth chords starting at 0:35. I could really go for some cymbal the second time the bass chords play at 0:52, probably an overall "step-up" to the drum line, it seems a little slow.

Early stages, you have a good idea here. Keep working on it, I'm sure it'll be great.

DjAbbic responds:

Heh, it's just a tuned piano with reverb, but I'm gonna add to it, as it doesn't sound very powerful at the moment. I might put some cymbals in there, just trying not to overuse them :P

Thanks for the review :)

Rave party in an overlarge room

Sounds like a crazy dance party in a cathedral. The reverb is a little over the top, especially with the drums at the beginning. This music is more suited to a packed room with flashing lights, and right now it sounds too hollow.

Seems a little dissonant at times, where the background suddenly shifts from major to minor key with little warning and then right back again. If you could get the rest of the parts to follow the key dynamics it would probably sound better. Could also just be me.

So, turn down the reverb, play with the harmony lines and it'll sound awesome.

lazy-dave responds:

I agree with you on the reverb and it will be changed. I know what parts your talking about with the transitions, one is intentional the other is just there kinda lol. I shall try making the transitions a little smoother too. Thanks for the review and feedback!

Cool!

I really like the panning guitar at the beginning, does a good job of leading up to the drum section at 0:30. Kind of gives a weird feeling, like you know that something more intense is coming, but you don't know when.

This piece could use some more parts. A few harmonic instruments, a stronger bassline and this would be perfect. Just feels a little empty. But as you said, it's "Nothing Much", so for nothing much, this is really good.

Overall nice job, and I'm looking forward to the extended version!

Yes.

Thanks a lot for the review, I appreciate the input, as for the rest of everyone, I'm not answering with large responses because I'm on my mobile.

Thanks :)

Nicely done.

Your instrument choice is spot on, and you really convey the sense of an ancient, crumbling old tower. A few chords are a bit off, but otherwise it's a really good piece. Maybe good for RPG background music. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your review! It means a lot!

Voices are a bit painful

The band is pretty good, I like your drums and guitar, especially the riff at 2:45. The main melody is good, could use a few more parts. Of course, if this was a live performance you'd be limited by the number of members.

No offense, but the singing is kind of weak, often out of key at times. Lyrics don't make much sense either, that might just be me :P

I'm curious about the title, not quite sure how it relates to the piece.

Decent job, just work on the singing a little :)

I use FL studio to make my music. Also toying with Game Maker, and would love to know if there is a way make my games into flash. I will respond to any and all reviews, given that they offer insight and constructive criticism.
