Very peaceful, could be more to it

Your use of gentle flute/oboe goes very well with the acoustic guitar. I imagine sitting in an ornamental pond in Japan with this playing in the background. You could possibly use some more/different instruments around 0:36, it gets a little repetitive.
Overall, great job, keep up the good work.

CheckeredZebra responds:

Thank you for the review :D I couldn't figure out what instruments to use at where you're talking about, should've gone with my gut and changed it anyway, ha. XD

Anyhow, thanks again. Always great to see an insightful review :3

Whoa.

I was listening to some of your older tracks, and I have to say, you've improved greatly. Was this digital or recorded? Either way, I love the intricacy of the lead guitar. The bassline is great too, kind of keeps the pace for the whole song. The drums are a tad repetitive, but I'm not one to criticize that. I'm still just learning. Seriously, good job.

Sawdust responds:

Haha, thanks man. This is just recorded. But it's good to see such a simple improv track could be enjoyed by anyone! :D

Awesome stuff

I really like the strings and drums. The looping could be better. What programs do you use?

SerenityDivide responds:

Thanks for the awesome feedback MeteroManMike! My DAW of choice is FL Studio 10.

This is what I want to make someday.

The orchestra is absolutely perfect. I suffer from a distinct lack of instruments, knowledge and talent. I don't have the stamina to make anything longer than about 1:30. This is one of the best orchestral pieces I've heard on NG.
Almost sounds like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean near the beginning. Awesome job, and keep it up.

Step responds:

Wow, thanks! There are far better orchestral submissions than this one, but I'm glad you like it!

The use of many different instruments and the ability to make long songs comes with practice. I've been making music for around 2 years and a half now, and I have some great VST's like East/West Symphonic Orchestra which really helps me achieve that full sound of an orchestra. So basically don't think you're bad at making music because you just need to make it long enough to unleash your potential :).

Thanks again for the supportive review.

This inspired me.

This chord structure and musical style was was what I built off of to make some of my earliest pieces. Thanks for an awesome song, you have a gift.

Awesome take on a classic song

I'm loving the mechanical sounds. I'd like to get my hands on some sfx like that for some work of my own.

Realmguys responds:

Thanks, I'm very glad that you liked it. Those sounds are straight from yamahas 2004 line of drum samples.

Goose bumps.

Awesome. Period. What music editing program do you use?

Puts the 'awe' into 'awesome'.

Completely struck dumb by the sheer amount of epic crammed into 2 minutes.
You win the internet. That is all.

I use FL studio to make my music. Also toying with Game Maker, and would love to know if there is a way make my games into flash. I will respond to any and all reviews, given that they offer insight and constructive criticism.
